With the blizzard sticking around Portage la Prairie, truckers have found themselves stuck in the city as they wait for mother nature to stop her mid-spring crisis.

Prabghot Kur, a new trucker, says, even if the roads weren't closed, they'd be staying here for the foreseeable future as it's very risky to drive in the conditions left behind by the blizzard. She says it's her first drive, but she knows how important it is to know when to stay off the road.

"We don't know long we'll have to stay here, so no plan right now," notes Kur. "We're just focusing our saving our truck and load."

Lyale Stanley-Phillips, another trucker that's waiting in Portage, says he could be looking at another day or so before getting back on the road again. He says this is the first major weather event he's had to wait though, as he's driven every other one he's experienced.

"It's just the weather, unfortunately, you have to deal with it," explains Stanley-Phillips. "I thought the good weather was here to stay, but that definitely backfired."

Both truckers agree that while they'd like to get on the road as soon as it's safe, it's not worth it to risk their own lives and the lives of others, just to try and get somewhere quick.
