Trucking firms are digging themselves out of a one-day delay after southern Manitoba was pounded with heavy snowfall over the weekend.

Ivan Stadnyk at Portage's Day & Ross is still feeling the effects of several highway closures, and is now also faced with the challenges brought on by an avalanche between Calgary and Vancouver.

Stadnyk says the province is never on time in terms of snow clearing, despite the trucking industry being a major part of economics in the prairies.

Jeannine Guyot of Heartland Transport in Elm Creek agrees with him, and also questions the quality of work done when snow is removed.
