U-18 AAA Central Plains Capitals graduating forward, Cameron Trimble, has committed to play for the Neepawa Natives of the MJHL next year.

Trimble played three seasons with the Capitals and put up a combined total of 146 points in 133 regular-season games over that span. He talks about the decision to commit to Neepawa.

“It was pretty easy,” says Trimble. “This is my hometown team. I’d watch them growing up, it was kind of always a dream to be able to play for them. It’s an honour to be able to play there and I’m excited to see what the future holds with them.”

Trimble had an outstanding year with the Capitals in 2019-20, he finished fourth in the U18 League for total points with 68 and led the league in assists with 48. In the Capitals three playoff games, he found the back of the net twice. Trimble also ended the regular season fifth in the league for penalty minutes with 115. He gives his perspective on the past season.

“This was probably the best season of hockey in my life so far,” says Trimble. “I had a lot of fun with the guys this year. I think a lot of us really developed, I think our games are going to come a long way turning over to Junior A next year.”

He describes how it feels to be getting an opportunity at the next level.

“It’s pretty exciting. I’ll have to work hard this summer to be able to match my size with the guys in Junior,” says Trimble. “This is something I’ve dreamed of, hopefully I can make the most of it.”

Trimble says his goals for this upcoming year are to have fun and make the playoffs.
