Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Portage la Prairie are almost out of the their stock of winter clothing for those in need. But there are still some left... but only for today.

"There's not a whole lot left," says Dawn Froese, executive director. "There are some things left. There is probably a little bit in every size, just not a lot. There will not be enough to go next week. If people need a coat they really need to come out today and have a look."

She's explains it's a 'good news/bad news' scenario, noting it's sad so many people require this many coats, but it feels good to be able to provide them.

Froese says November was much warmer last year, and with this year's earlier cold people realized the need sooner. So far, 243 coats have been provided to people, and that's above the 226 mark from 2016.

"The year before that we gave out about 260," says Froese. "So, we're getting close to that mark again."

If you want to visit the pickup location, today's the deadline, and the depot is open from 2:00 p.m. until 5:30, and you'll need your Manitoba Health Card on hand. Go to Century 21's back alley entrance, and then into the basement.
