In the MJHL, Portage Terriers needed to get back in the win column after their loss to Virden on Wednesday night. Forward and defensman Tyler Van Deynze notes the team responded to the loss the right way, with a 6-1 triumph over OCN Blizzard at Stride Place last night.

"It was a good bounce-back game after the loss in Virden," says Van Deynze. "The boys came out firing and got in on the forecheck."

Forecheck was one of many things the Terriers did well. They scored big goals, they got a couple big saves from their goaltender, and they managed to keep mostly out of the penalty box, at least by comparison to OCN.

The two teams combined for 72 penalty minutes, 42 from OCN and Portage had 30. Portage was 4/13 on the powerplay and 6/6 on the penalty kill.

Nathan Moore stopped 17 of the 18 shots he faced, and says it's nice to play on a strong defensive team.

"Playing for this team, they're really good defensively, so I don't get a lot of good offensive chances on the other side, so I just have to stay ready and be prepared, so when my chance comes, I just have to make the save."

Ocean Wiesblatt buried a couple goals throughout the game, as one of the games top point producers, but he emphasized that wasn't the biggest thing to think about.

"It's a good feeling obviously, but you can't focus too much on that," says Wiesblatt. "As long as we keep winning games, that's all that matters."

The Terriers' next event is the Terrier Skate happening Sunday afternoon at Stride Place, and then they travel to Winnipeg to play in the MJHL Showcase.
