The Portage Terriers have been nominated as Manitoba's Team of the Year for 2015.

They're nominated along with Braden Calvert's curling team -- who won the World Junior Curling event -- the Brandon Wheat Kings for their outstanding 2014-15 season, the Manitoba Winter Games Team, and the Winman Wesmen Volleyball team. The Terriers amazing 2015 run included the MJHL Championship, along with winning the Canadian National Junior A Championship RBC Cup right here in Portage, as well as setting a new MJHL Record for wins.

Terriers' General Manager and Head Coach Blake Spiller says it really was a dream season.

"The whole year from start to finish kind of went the way we hoped it would. So as a group it was a good honour for our team to be nominated."

Spiller says a lot of players received recognition at the end of the season, this nomination is great for the entire organization.

"There was some individual awards that were handed out as a result of the year that we had, and it's really nice -- and obviously an honour -- for us to be nominated as a group. That involves everybody from the players to the staff, the executive and everyone else that's involved with the Terriers."

The Winner will be announced on January 22nd 2016.
