The Portage Terriers came off a big loss in Dauphin looking for a win in game two versus the Kings.

 

Jeremy Dawes scored two powerplay goals in the third period as Portage won over Dauphin 5-2 in MJHL action.  Terrier goalie Mike Marino picked up his fourth of the year.  The Terriers improve their record to .500 and sit at 5-5-2. Swan Valley have won two straight with new goalie Jordan Kaczmar. They edged the Neepawa Natives 3-2.  Kaczmar had 24-stops.  With the win the Stamps jump two spots in the Sherwood Division from sixth place up to fourth. Chris Tyslau and Brent Howarth scored less than two minutes apart midway through the first period for Selkirk then the Steelers set the cruise. Selkirk downed Southeast 6-1. Selkirk has only one loss in their first eleven games.

The Central Plains Capitals lost their Saturday match up to the Winnipeg Wild 5-2 in the Manitoba Midget AAA league.

The Manitoba Moose avenged their Friday AHL loss with a 2-1 win over Philadelphia last night.

The Bantam Portage Pitbulls will start their road to the Manitoba Minor Football Provincial Championship today. The Pitbulls finished the season in fifth place and will face the 4th place St. Vital Mustangs at St. Vital starting at 3 O'clock. The Dogs will be looking towards RB Cole Green to provide the ground attack will through the air Portage's number one target is SB Joel Baker. On defence the Pitbulls line will have to get pressure while safeties Brendan Bridges, and Mathew Irwin look to shut-down St. Vital's passing game with help from Cole Bridges, and Julian Major on the corners.

Today in the Canadian Football League, the Bombers will look to keep their hopes of winning the East Division title alive when they make the trip to Hamilton for an encounter with the Ti-Cats. Winnipeg is currently 3rd in the East, behind Toronto and Montreal, with 14 points on the strength of their 7-8 record. With 3 games left on the schedule Bombers kicker, Troy Westwood, says its cliché, but Winnipeg needs to take it week by week, adding he's confident his club and beat both the Argos and Alouettes home or away at any given time. Tomorrow's game will get underway at noon, while in the late contest Calgary welcomes B.C.
