The Portage Terriers announced today that the club has acquired a forward and defenceman from the Winnipeg Blues in exchange for future considerations.

The Dogs landed 18-year-old Aidan Shumka along with list rights to blueliner Carter Bateman.

Shumka, a 5-foot-10, 181 lbs product from Kenora, Ont., played 29 games last season as a rookie with the Winnipeg Blues and put up five assists. As a 17-year-old he had 29 points in 46 games with the Kenora Thistles (MAAA U18).

“We are hoping Shumka will regain his scoring touch from his midget career in Kenora,” says Terrier head coach/GM Blake Spiller.

Bateman, a 5-foot-11, 192 lbs., right-shot defenceman, had 15 points in 32 games for the Rink Hockey Academy Prep "A" (CSSHL).

“Bateman is a physical defenseman who will come in and battle for a spot with our team,” adds Spiller.
