A Portage la Prairie resident is encouraging residents to step up and create positivity during these uncertain times.

Lynn Leslie wants citizens to create a teddy bear walk. She explains what that is.

“You put bears on display, then the kids, if they go for a walk, can look to find bears in the window. It’s just a let’s do something fun kind of thing.”

The activity has been popularized by social media, and she thought it would be a great way to boost morale.

She hopes it picks up traction around the city.

“There’s not a lot but it’s coming. You have to drive around the town. I drove around the town and saw a few. There are definitely women that are into this. I got about 100 responses on my Facebook post within a couple of hours.”

She says it’s also good for families that need to get out of the house and stay active.

“It’s something for the kids to look at and see. They must be just bored to tears, and to do the teddy bear hunt now because Easter is coming up, and maybe we’ll do a bunny hunt.”
