Six students from Portage Colligate Institute will be participating in the Manitoba High School Case Competition.

Stride Credit Union has stepped up to take the financial burden off those who are attending.

Charley Williams is a grade eleven student and will be taking part in a personal finance case study with her team. She explains it's her first year attending, and she's a little nervous. Though she doesn't know exactly what to expect, her fellow classmates have told her to prepare for a hard three-hour deadline and no help from teachers.

Nathaniel Woodward is also in grade eleven and he and his team are involved in an entrepreneur case study. Woodward shares, it's going to be a great experience to network, and make connections that will last a lifetime. He adds the public speaking and the unfamiliarity of the case will be challenging.

Woodward notes, it's great Stride has stepped up. Adding, not everyone can afford it.

Ryan Hildebrandt is the Vice President of Member Experience and Strategy for Stride and he believes this is a great competition for the six students attending. Noting, it's an opportunity for them to apply real-life skills and see how they can impact the world.

"It's important for us to invest in them (local teenagers)," says Hildebrandt. "It's absolutely incredible they get this opportunity, and we're so happy to be a part of it."

The Manitoba High School Case Competition takes place at Brandon University on May 16th and 17th.
