Adam Sergerie scored five times as the Selkirk Steelers hammered the Winkler Flyers 10-3 in the lone Manitoba Junior Hockey League game.

The Winkler Flyers gave up four power-play goals in a 10-3 loss to the Steelers in Selkirk. Keith Bially, Tyson Lewadniuk and Tyler Kornelson did the goal scoring for the Flyers who have lost three games in row and have a record of 17-21-3-2. Adam Sergerie scored five times for the Steelers. Winkler trails the Winnipeg Saints by four points in the race for third place in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Addison Division. In the league tonight the Terriers see their first action of the new year when they play host to the visiting Dauphin Kings.  The last time these two teams met Dauphin Defenseman Tyler Harder scored 3 unanswered goals including the overtime winner to lead the Kings to a 4-3 overtime victory.  Tonight's affair is a re-scheduled match up from early November, game time is 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Arena.  Elsewhere tonight the Steelers look for another big win when they travel to Winnipeg to take on the Saints. 

The holiday break is over for the Manitoba "AAA" Midget Hockey League's Central Plains Capitals. The Caps take on Parkland tonight in one of 5 games.

Ryan Butterfield scored three goals and added two assists as the defending South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League champion Carman Beavers downed the Stonewall Flyers 6-4. Mike Gregg, Kendall Enns and Scott Vanderveen also scored for the Beavers who improved to 9-2-1 and trail the first place Altona Maroons by two points. Clint Vandersteen, Kevin Goodman, Chad Willis and Andrew Kirk replied for the Flyers who are 6-6-1-1.

Canada's National Women's Under-22 Hockey Team which includes Jocelyne Larocque of Ste.Anne, Melanie Gagnon of St.Adolphe and Laura Fridfinnson of Arborg are in Germany for the 2007 European Air Canada Cup. Six countries are taking part in the tournament including Canada, Germany, Finland, Switzerland, Russia and Japan. Canada, which has won the tournament since it's inception four years ago, will open against Japan today.
