Anyone root'ing for Spruce Drive Farms last week would have been ecstatic when they heard that they received the Most Outstanding Contribution to the Community by a Business Award at The Portage and District Chamber of Commerce Business award gala.  

Mark Peters with Spruce Drive Farms says that he is extremely thankful for the continued support. 

"Oh, it feels amazing. I'm impressed with the whole community here, and I've never come to this event before, so it's everything new. So, I am just very thankful."

Spruce Drive Farms holds a free potato giveaway around Thanksgiving, where community members can come and grab as many potatoes as they want free of charge. He notes that being a part of the Portage community means much to him and the business. 

"We decided to make this contribution every year to Portage and the people and of just giving away potatoes, which I thought was pretty simple. But how it turned out to be much bigger than just potatoes."
