A sports update for Sunday August 27th.

 

The Portage Pitbulls played an exciting game in Transcona yesterday.  The bantam age boys scored a last minute touchdown to tie the Nationals 7-7. The bantam Pitbulls now sit with a record of 1-1-1.

In the CFL another team who wears green managed to find a win. The Saskatchewan Roughriders beat the lowly Hamilton Ti-Cats 51-8 under the leadership of new GM Eric Tillman.

A record crowd could not help the Goldeyes. The Winnipeg baseball club lost 4-2 in northern league action to the Calgary Vipers in front of a crowd of 8,008.

The Blue-Jays lost to the Royals. Toronto ace Roy Halliday gave up two solo home runs as Kansas City blanked the Jays 2-0,

The Twins added to their lead in the AL wild card. Minnesota beat the defending world champion White Sox 8-7 to increase their lead to one-and-a-half games.
