The Southport United were on the road taking on Fusion F.C., and on the strength of goals from Michael Philippot and Glen McCulloch, shutout their Winnipeg opposition, 2-0.

United Coach, Albert Philippot, feels last night's result was the product of early pressure; Southport scored just 10 minutes into the contest and from there continued to work hard. He adds after scoring their second goal on a penalty kick in the first half, the United started the second portion of the contest a little more cautiously. Philippot notes by the end of the game the Fusion had nothing left and although they didn't score, Southport continued to pressure. He adds all things considered he feels the United played an excellent game on all fronts. Steve Assenmacher registered the shutout for the United.

With the victory, Southport moves into a second place tie in Fourth Division Black Group standings with 14 points. The United will return to action this Sunday when they hit the road once more to take on the Lusitania Revolution, who are the first place team in the Black Group.
