Smile, Portage la Prairie! Your generosity has helped raise a lot of money for the new skate park coming to Simplot Central Park.

All Tim Hortons stores across Canada took part in Smile Cookie Week where proceeds from the smile cookies would go toward a local cause. In Portage, the skate park was the beneficiary.

Treasurer with the Portage Parks Committee, Rachel Templeton, is thrilled to announce the week was a tremendous success.

"Our friend Stephanie (Arnott) over at Tim Hortons informed us that we made $8,280 this year with smile cookies," says Templeton. "I just want to make sure to thank everyone who purchased a smile cookie and helped spread the word around and thank you to all the people that uploaded their picture with their smile cookie onto the Parks' page."

When asked about hwo far along they are with the fundraising, Templeton says they aren't done.

"I would say (we need) a fair bit more," says Templeton. "We're also working on grants and stuff but we will definitely be doing some more fundraisers for it."

She adds they will be announcing their next campaign in the next month or so.
