The Portage Blaze fell behind early in Monday nights game against FCNW Titans and could not recover in a 3-1 loss.

The Blaze fell behind 2-0 in the first 8 minutes as FCNW had two 3 on 2 breaks which resulted in goals. The 2nd goal was a little unlucky as the shot from outside the penalty area deflected off of a defender and past keeper Connor Forzley.

In the 2nd half, Nicole Snider started in net as Forzley left the game temporarily with an injury. The Blaze would go down 3-0 just five minutes into the half on a shot which took a deflection and went through the legs of Snider. With 14 minutes remaining, the Blaze would make a game of it when Lindsay Cancilla picked up her own rebound and put a shot between the legs of the FCNW keeper. A few minutes later, Leanne Scharikow kept the momentum going as she knocked a shot off the left post, but that was as close as the Blaze would come for the rest of the game.

The Blaze do not have a good record in back to back games this season with a tie and two losses, but with some other favourable results from trailing teams, the Blaze remain in 2nd place with a record of 8 wins, 4 ties and 4 losses. The final two games of the season should be very intense as the 2nd place Blaze (28 points) play third place Southend Shooters (28 points) on March 7, and fourth place Titans (27 points) on March 15.
