Sirens, horns and flashing lights fascinated children Thursday as the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation held its Touch-a-Truck event at the BDO Centre for the Community in Portage la Prairie. Community engagement coordinator Stefanie McKim says the turnout was unbelievable.

Stefanie McKim"We have a crazy huge crowd here at Touch-a-Truck," says McKim. "And we are so excited to see such a positive response to this kind of event. This is really an event celebrating our city, the people on the front lines, and behind the front lines doing all the work to make Portage what it is. There's such a huge response to that."

At 4:30 the crowd saw 312 people so far. She adds it's exciting to partner with someone else, the city in this case, and it's great to provide events like this through such partnerships. McKim says it strengthens our neighbourhoods and she loves bringing different and exciting events to the city.

Teisha MazuratYoung Casey Bagnal says she liked the police car because it had pictures of horses on it.

Teisha Mazurat was with the children and notes the kids enjoy seeing the different vehicles that help Portage get its work done. She says they were fascinated with looking inside the vehicles, adding it's not too often the community gets this opportunity.
