The Portage Collegiate Saints Varsity girls volleyball team are AAAA WWAC Tier 1 champions.

They were able to overcome the Oak Park Raiders in four sets, scored 25-15, 25-21, 23-25, and 25-19.

The Saints have now "three-peated" winning their division championship in three straight seasons. Head coach Derek Casper talks about the keys to the victory.

"Our girls were passing the ball very well off serve receive," says Casper. "They were playing some very sloppy defense which allowed us to transition into some great offense and generate some momentum."

PCI went undefeated in league play this season and now have stayed undefeated through the post-season. Casper talks about what this means to the girls, especially the graduates.

"We have five graduating players and they had the opportunity of getting it last year but it's always nice to leave high school with another championship," says Casper. "They put in somewhere around 300 hours of training between tournaments, games, and practices. They put in a lot of hard work and it's good to see they benefited from it."

The Saints have now punched their ticket to the AAAA provincial volleyball tournament, with the chance to be crowned the best team in Manitoba.
