The Portage la Prairie Rotary Club has received an update on the work taking place at the BDO Centre. Centennial Community Club President Shane Moffatt was the presenter at this week's meeting, outlining the work that's taken place at the facility over the last six years. Moffat notes while they have a long list of accomplishments, some of the biggest projects are just on the horizon.

"This year we got another $70,000 to do the roof, we'll also do some lighting and the alarm system, so that's crucial. Once that's all done, that work will be all brand new."

He notes some of the highlights of recently completed work include refitting the dressing rooms, flooring upgrades, the ice plant replacement, the new score board, as well as numerous painting jobs over the years. While they always have projects on the go, Moffatt says their work would be impossible without the support of the community and its organizations.

"We can't do it without the support of the community, the business community, Rotary, the Portage foundation and all the grants we get. I just want to thank everybody for their support over the last six years and I think the community should be proud because it's all about the kids, so they have a place to go and get some exercise."

Moffatt adds the projects involving lighting and their alarm system have been bumped up their list of priorities, following the recent theft of their sound system.
