Members of the Rotary Club got to meet Portage's newest exchange student at this week's meeting.

Her name is Dilara Tunç, and she hails from Germany.

She talks about what she thinks of Canada so far.

"It's nice," says Tunç. "I love nature, and it's the best example for Canada."

She arrived on the 25th of August and has been busy visiting the cabin, going to Neepawa to meet other exchange students, and adjusting to school at PCI.

She outlines her experience at a Canadian school.

"It's cool because you get to sit and learn with the hairdressers and it's very friendly," says Tunç. "If you need help, the other students help you. It's the little things in school, and I like it."

Dilara says one of her goals while in Canada is to go downhill skiing. She also is working with a grade 11 teacher at PCI to start a hip-hop dance group.

"The start of the first class is on Friday at lunch," says Tunç. "I hope some students come out so we can make a choreographed dance and perform it at Christmas, or the end of the year."
