Manitoba RCMP have confirmed the remains found at Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation this past summer are those of Bud Paul, and say his death was a homicide. The 56-year-old Winnipeg man has been the subject of a missing person investigation since Aug. 7. His remains were found in a wooded area around the first nation Aug. 11.

RCMP say finding this woman is critical to their investigation.

Officials said at a news conference Wednesday, that since then investigators with the RCMP, Winnipeg Police Service, and Manitoba First Nations Police Service have been piecing together Paul's final days and have come up with a timeline of events they say are critical to the investigation.

- August 1: Bud was seen with two individuals at an MLCC store. This is the last time he was seen alive

- August 10: Bud's burned car was discovered on Queen Street in Winnipeg

- August 11: Bud's body was located in Roseau River

- October 13: RCMP investigators were back at the scene in Roseau River conducting an additional evidence search.

According to Manitoba RCMP, investigators believe those responsible for Paul's murder continued to access his bank account and use his cell phone after his death. As well, they say the man who parked Paul's vehicle in Winnipeg prior to it being burned, also discarded evidence in a nearby garbage bin. Police also continue to work to identify the woman who was present when the vehicle was parked, adding finding and speaking with her is essential to the investigation.

In statement, RCMP indicated they are very close to solving this homicide, and need public assistance to put these last few pieces of the investigation together.

These two individuals have been previously identified by RCMP as persons of interest in the investigation.
