A Portage la Prairie resident's upset her comments about Portage Regional Economic Development at the last RM of Portage Council meeting were called untrue and fictional, by Executive Director Douglas Barill.

Luanne Anderson's concerned PRED's funding from the RM will be increased, but says she hasn't been able to access any information about their operation. She's written an open letter to illustrate her claims.

"I went through months of trying to get information, and being told I had to go through the RM, and then the RM helped me get some of it, and I should have been able to go to PRED as an economic development agency and get all this information from the get-go. This isn't the way an agency should be behaving, and PRED is fund by the RM and the City, I feel it's appropriate to ask questions."

Anderson says she wrote the letter to refute the statements her concerns weren't true. She's also concerned the PRED board, which is made up of three City and three RM councillors, condones it.

"Both the actions of Douglas Barill, and then him speaking out about me, and also the actions of the agency, because I had e-mail communications with them in December as well. So I hope with the amount of our tax dollars being utilized, that a serious look is taken at an agency that had no annual report in 2014, (and) has had only three-quarters in 2015."

There's no comment from the City or PRED.
