The Portage RCMP is prepared should a school shooting occur in Portage.

That from Constable Dave Spakowski following the brutal attack on a one room school house in Pennsylvania.

Portage School Division Superintendent Larry Taylor explains Portage schools do have evacuation drills in which students will vacate the school to a designated meeting place. He adds they also have lock-down drills in place.

Meanwhile Spakowski adds the RCMP and the school board work closely together to prepare for emergencies. He says they're more than up to date with procedures.
