Yesterday (Friday) morning at 11:00 a.m. RCMP were notified of a possible impaired driver who had just left a gas station in Gladstone after allegedly stealing fuel. It was reported that a male driver was possibly intoxicated and driving a white SUV and was heading westbound on Highway 16. Police saw the vehicle heading toward Neepawa. As the police tried to stop the vehicle, a collision occurred between a RCMP police cruiser and the suspect vehicle.

An officer attempted to arrest the suspect and was subsequently dragged by the driver. The officer fire his gun to try and stop the suspect. The suspect was not injured and the officer managed to free himself while sustaining minor injuries.

The suspect left the area in the vehicle and was later found and arrested. The vehicle he was driving was stolen.

The suspect, a 27 year old male from Fort McMurray, Alberta remains in custody. Charges have not been laid at this time as the investigation continues.
