The Portage la Prairie RCMP attended to reports of a man in a ditch late last month,

Local RCMP received the call at around 7 a.m., about a man lying in a ditch on 14 Street NE in Portage. Officers note, when they arrived, the suspect was grossly intoxicated and would not provide police with his proper name.

A 29-year-old from Sandy Bay was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and was lodged until he was sober enough to care for himself. Once sober, the suspect provided his name, and after a check, it turned out he was on conditions not to consume alcohol and not to be intoxicated in a public place.

The 29-year-old was arrested for breaching those two conditions and was held in custody to appear in court the following day.
