Efforts continue to re-establish a board of directors for Rainbow Residence in Carman.

The non-profit organization provides services and programs for individuals living with an intellectual disability in the area, and operates two group homes.

According to information provided by an official with Manitoba Family Services, the division of government that helps fund Rainbow Residence, the entire board of directors stepped down from the non-profit agency in June and advised of their wishes to have the province take over until a new board could be established.

The provisional administrator was put in place effective September 2nd with the responsibility of governance and financial management of the agency and to provide oversight and supervision for the facilities.

Manitoba Family Services ensures there has been no disruption to the individuals served through Rainbow Residence and good communication has been maintained with stakeholders including family members and staff, to ensure all are kept up-to-date.

It also says the administrator continues to build community engagement and is working toward establishing a new board of directors.
