The development of the PCI plaza is a serious matter for the chair of the Portage School Board.

Yvette Cuthbert has been pitching her ideas to influential community groups in hopes of creating interest for the project.

So far support has been promising.  The Portage Beautification Committee has earmarked about 25 hundred dollars towards plantings, and the Rick Hansen Man in Motion Foundation has donated about two-and-a-half thousand dollars to have the school wheelchair accessible, among other commitments.

Cuthbert identifies the possibilities of the plaza playing a role in the 2010 Manitoba Winter Games if Portage's host committee lands the bid.  She wants to develop the plaza into an area of gathering.

Cuthbert is establishing a committee dedicated to the plaza project and is hosting a meeting tonight at the PCI library for any interested individuals.
