The Portage School Division's School-Bus Closure Plan may no longer be on the back burner.

The plan takes effect during snow days among other situations, when roads are deemed unsafe for travel.

Superintendent Larry Taylor may be faced with that decision soon, and says driving conditions are being assessed daily through the highways department, RCMP, and the bus drivers themselves.

The plan includes procedure for billeting students if a winter storm hits during the school day -- it's a decision Taylor calls one of the most difficult.

He adds a severe emergency may see students doubled up due to a shortage of billets.
