The Portage-Lisgar MP feels assured knowing Portage will have their say regarding the country's budget.

The Finance Committee's pre-budget consultations were launched this week, with the start of a hearing process of over 400 presenters.  It'll be followed with a Canada-wide tour.

But while Brian Pallister -- who also chairs the committee -- is glad Portage is one of the stops during the tour, he says not everyone will get want they want.  He stresses the Conservatives will avoid over-spending unlike the previous government.

The consultations are entitled "Canada's Place in a Competitive World", and Pallister's goal is to ensure that position.

He adds the process is a chance to form priority recommendations for the finance minister before the next budget is inked.
