Kelsey Taylor, a woman from Portage la Prairie, has been honouring her mother's legacy by raising money for the animals she adored.

Taylor explains that after her mom passed away at the start of the year, she asked for donations in memory of her to go to the Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), which motivated Taylor to go the extra mile by selling seasonal cups @k.m.t.creations on Instagram and donating the proceeds to the PAWS.

"I knew I had to do something, and I decided to start making these cups. So, I made two styles of cups. One has paws and hearts, the other daisies because that was her favourite flower. She loved animals, she asked for her donations to be made in memory of her to PAWS. Word kind of got out, my coworkers supported me, my family, my friends, people I didn't know through buying the cups."

Taylor notes that she started this project in February not only to celebrate her mom but to keep herself busy. In the process, she raised $1500 for her mom's legacy.

"She'd be so happy. I know she'd be so proud."

Allan Dillabough, associate dealer with Canadian Tire was inspired by Taylors story and made a $500 donation to the cause on behalf of the store.

"We're very proud of what Kelsey has done in memory of her mother and has raised $1500. We just wanted to support her and are very proud of what she's done."

With the donation from Canadian Tire, Taylor's total was brought to over $2,000.
