Portage la Prairie's own Logan Rands is the MJHL's 'Defenceman of the Month' for October.

Rands is in his third season with the Virden Oil Capitals and averaged over a point per game in the first month of the season. In seven games he dished out seven assists and found the back of the net once, which happened to be a game-winning goal.

Rands has been a leader on the back end for the league's best team (8-0-1) and has helped the Oil Capitals keep the puck out of their own net as they have allowed the fewest goals in the division at 24 (only MJHL team to have played nine games and allow less than 25 goals this season). Virden also has the highest goal differential in the Interior Division with +15.

Rands finished the month of October on a five-game point streak where he had two multi-assist games. He only had one game all month where he was left off the stat sheet and that happened to be the Oil Capitals' only loss of the season thus far (October 11th vs Portage).

Rands and the Oil Capitals will be in action next on November 20th as they take on Neepawa.
