The World Cup of Soccer is coming to an end tommorow with France playing Italy in Berlin, Germany.

The soccer community in the Portage area has enjoyed every game. Roger Fooks, coach of the Southport Aeros has loved the tournament even though his beloved English are out.

According to Fooks Portage soccer supporters have closely followed the tournament but soccer fever has not spread to all Canadians.

He characterizes the level of play at this year's tournament as brilliant, adding it's the best World Cup he's ever witnessed and he feels the standard of soccer is improving world wide.

If you've caught soccer fever the next Southport Aeros game is Monday, 7:30 at the Southport Aerospace Centre where they battle AC Slater.

Though many consider it little more than an afterthought, today there's pride on the line as host Germany battles Portugal in the 3rd-place game (2 p.m.)
