The first ever voting information session will be taking place tonight at the Portage Learning and Literacy Centre The session was organized by the Portage Learning and Literacy Centre's Settlement Coordinator Miriam Turyamwijuka, with the help of the Local Immigration Partnership Coordinator. Turyamqijuka hopes to educate the areas new Canadians on the municipalities voting practices.

"For some of them it could be there first time voting ever or just in Canada," says Turyamwijuka. "It could mean something totally different because voting abroad main not mean what it means to us here."

Turyamwijuka noted that the information night was is significant as there has been an increase in new immigrant citizens within the municipality. She adds more applicants are steadily coming in. She hopes the night will be educational for all of those who attend.

The session will start on at 7:30 at the Portage Learning and Literacy Centre.
