Manitoba RCMP are actively searching for a man in relation to a house fire that occurred early Sunday morning in Portage, where three people were found deceased.

RCMP are looking for Trevis McLeod, who was last seen in Winnipeg on April 11 and April 12 and is believed to still be in the Winnipeg area.

On April 10, 2022, at about 1:00 a.m., Manitoba RCMP officers responded to a report of the fire on 7th Street SE in Portage la Prairie and arrived to see the Portage la Prairie Fire Department already on the scene. Three deceased people were found in the home -- a 32-year-old woman, a 6-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy.

All three victims are from Portage la Prairie and from the same family (a mother and her two children).

The investigation has determined the victims sustained injuries that were not associated with the fire. Their deaths have been confirmed to be the result of homicide.

McLeod, 50, was charged with:

  • Arson and;
  • Three counts of 2nd Degree Murder.

He is considered dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone who may have seen Trevis or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
