Portage la Prairie RCMP recently responded to a man threatening citizens on a walking path.

At 3:23 p.m. on April 9, Officers were called to a disturbance on the trail along Fisher Avenue in Portage. 

Police learned that a man had threatened to stab another person. Officials were given a detailed description of the suspect. 

They then located the suspect a short distance away and placed the 18-year-old man from Portage la Prairie under arrest without incident. 

While the officers were placing the suspect in the police vehicle, another person approached, indicating that this same suspect had swung an edged weapon at her. The culprit was taken to the RCMP Detachment and faces charges of Uttering Threats and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose. 


The 18-year-old was held to sober up and released to appear in court at a later date with imposed conditions.
