The City of Portage la Prairie announced on Thursday that they are preparing to fog the community for mosquitoes once again this summer.

This news comes shortly after their last fog, which took place last week.

PortageOnline reached out to the City's manager of public works, Brian Taylor, and he confirmed that the level of mosquitos being found in traps has triggered this fog. However, he believes some areas of the City still remain fine.

"We had a successful fog there last week. It went quite well. I think there's still a lot of areas in town that are okay, but we have been getting all of a sudden in the last couple of days a large volume of calls coming in with complaints of the mosquitoes."

Taylor concludes the City will continue to monitor mosquito levels and that this helps everyone enjoy what is left of summer.

The Mosquito Fogging will be conducted with Delta Gard 20EW, weather permitting, as follows:

Sunday, August 21,all areas north of the tracks as well as Koko Platz, Mellenville and Old Bridge Road.

Monday, August 22, all areas south of the railway tracks, not including Koko Platz, Mellenville and Old Bridge Road.

According to the City, the fogging will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. and be completed before 6:00 a.m..

If the weather conditions are poor, fogging will occur the following evening.

The City says that due to the continuing threat of West Nile, the public is encouraged to allow fogging on their property. But those who would like a "no fog" are asked to register by phoning (204)-239-8346 before 4:00 p.m. on August 19, leaving a message with your name and address.
