Donations are needed for the Salvation Army's Food Bank, as their stocks are running low after a slow month of donations.

Portage Salvation Army Major Brenda Coles explains their situation.

"We're getting low. So we're going to be holding a food drive this month. I also ordered some food, because Sobeys and Co-Op are good sponsors of the Food Bank, so we buy food as well. This year we're going to be doing some evaluation as well. So I have one of the students who has a Masters in Social Work, doing some evaluation with our clients who come and use it, how they find the food bank. Volunteers will be interviewed too."

Coles understands money's usually tight after the holidays.

The food that's going out Wednesday

"You know we had such a great support over Christmas, and like everybody, after Christmas it's usually tight for people. So the same happens with the Food Bank. We're careful, we try and make it last as far as we can but it's there to give away, so we're always needing to replenish."
