It was a busy 48 hours for the Portage la Prairie Fire Department.

On Wednesday afternoon, around 4 p.m., two trucks were called to a grass fire on the southeast corner of the RM. Around the same time, crews were called to a house alarm.

At 6:25, another truck went out, as a call came in about two pick-up trucks colliding head-on, on Road 46. One person was transported to hospital. The RCMP continues to investigate.

Later that night, at 7:15, crews were called to a baler fire on Highway 227 east of Highway 240. No injuries were reported and the incident was wrapped up within the hour. All in all, five trucks were sent out in just over a three hour span.

Moving to Thursday night at 9:30, a call came in that another baler was on fire -- this time, on Road 78. It was engulfed when crews arrived.

There was some damage to the tractor, which was hooked up to the baler. No injuries were reported and crews were finished by 11:30 p.m.
