Local weather observer Henry Romance says 2022 was the wettest year in the last five decades.

Going into December, we needed 40 millimetres of precipitation to break the record set in 2000 of 763mm. After the winter storm the week of the 13th which brought 24 centimetres of snow, 22.8 millimetres of water-equivalent precipitation was recorded. There were a few days later where we saw some freezing drizzle and a little bit of snow. Prior to yesterday, we needed 6mm.

Yesterday's snowfall brought in 7.1mm according to Romance, which puts us right around 764mm, a new record. He will be recording all of the drizzle we see between today and Saturday to get a final tally for 2022.
