Pirates Claim Series Opener

Plumas has drawn first blood in the Santa Clara Baseball League Playoffs.

The Pirates were at home hosting Arden in game 1 of a best of 3 series last night and in a close affair edged the Hawks 8-7.

Plumas Player/Coach, Tom Yandeau, says with the exception of one bad inning where the Hawks scored 3 runs with 2 out, he feels the Pirates played solid defence and received some timely hits in helping them register the series opening victory.

Plumas can wrap up the series when game 2 goes Thursday night in Arden.
