Portage Collegiate Institute (PCI) sent a letter to parents on Wednesday regarding a break-in incident that transpired on Sunday evening.

The letter explained that the school discovered on Monday that a classroom in the west building had been broken into during the previous evening. Upon looking at the security camera footage, it was determined that the intruder had climbed into the ceiling during the break-in. As a precaution, classes in that hallway were relocated.

"The intruder was discovered in the ceiling, and the RCMP attended to and arrested the individual without incident. As a precaution, the remainder of the hallway and all surrounding areas were inspected, and no concerns were identified," PCI principal Lawrence McKenzie said in a letter to parents.
