The BDO Centre won't be having any more score clock problems in the future, as their new one was installed a couple of weeks ago.

The new clock was donated by the Portage Credit Union, the Austin Credit Union, and the Portage Co-op, with each business contributing $3,000. Portage Credit Union CEO Dave Omichinski explains why they partnered for this donation.

"We're all sister cooperatives. We all share the cooperative principles, one of which is community sustainability. As it says on the sign, working together to build a better community, it was pretty easy for us to support this."

Austin Credit Union CEO Brent Budz says it's an important piece of the community.

"We're just happy to support where we can. This place gets used a lot, and it was a need for this arena and we're happy to help out."

Portage Co-Op GM Kevin Dales outlines his reasons why others should help out.

"It's a second ice facility in Portage, and it's all volunteer and community run. It's great to give back to the community."

Centennial Community Club President Shane Moffat says they tried to keep the old one running for as long as they could.

"When the old one started giving up trouble we tried to MacGyver it together a couple of times, and it wasn't working. When Portage Credit Union, Austin Credit Union, and the Portage Co-Op came toward us and said they'd donate a clock to us, it goes a long way. Not only for the rink, but for the community. We have a pile of kids that come in here and use this rink for hockey games every weekend and during the week, and it's super that the 3 businesses stepped in to help out."

Moffat gives a big thanks to the Portage Credit Union, Austin Credit Union, and the Portage Co-op.
