The Fort la Reine Museum in Portage la Prairie's a $1,000 dollars wealthier as the result of a cheque presentation from the local Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Museum board member Terry Simpson expresses his appreciation on behalf of the museum.

"I think this is a good opportunity to receive a $1,000 from the (Odd Fellows) bingo. We've all worked hard. I'm involved with the bingo at the same time, so, it's going to a very good cause. We do have a partial small Odd Fellows display out there at the museum. This is to help in the future for some more renovations to be done out there. There are a lot of renovations to do."

Lodge Noble Grand Jim McDonald says the lodge wanted to be involved in the museum's future plans.

"This is one of our first opportunities to donate toward the Fort la Reine Museum. They have some major plans that are in the works. And we felt we would like to be part of that. We also have some articles on display there, and we'd like to try and work on that a little bit, too. So, we felt that would be a very worthy cause."
