Time is running out to nominate individuals deserving of recognition in Portage la Prairie's business community.

The Portage and District Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the 2021 Business Awards and hope to host the event in-person this year. The deadline to nominate deserving individuals and organizations is Friday and the categories include Outstanding Business of the Year, Outstanding Not For Profit Organization, Outstanding Contribution to the Community by a Business, and Outstanding New Entrepreneur of the Year.

"This is my favourite event of the year," says Cindy McDonald, Chamber executive director. "These are all fantastic awards and this is such a great way to celebrate our amazing business community and our non profit organizations, especially after the 18 months we've all been through. They deserve applause. They deserve kudos. They deserve recognition. So please, if you know any business or nonprofit that has gone above and beyond, please nominate them for a business award."

To make a nomination you can obtain a form from McDonald at her office, email her at info@portagedistrictchamber.com, or go to their website, portagedistrictchamber.com, and get a form there.

The virtual version last year saw the following winners:

Outstanding Not-For-Profit - Portage Community Revitalization Corporation
Outstanding Contribution to the Community by a Business - MR MIKES Steakhouse Casual
Outstanding New Entrepreneur - Adrienne Hofer Styled With Meraki
