Elie's Reeve Dale Fossay says they're going ahead with some waterline replacements this year.

He explains the details of the 1.2 million dollar project.

"With support from two levels of government, Provincial and Federal, we plan to replace some waterlines that go back to the 1960's in the Northwest corner of Elie. All the rest of the village has been upgraded over past projects, to spare our last major renewal. It's along Fossay Street, Chabot Avenue, Piper Bay, Boulton Boulevard, and Oris Street. It's about 1200 metres of waterline."

He adds it's the last of the waterline upgrades.

"I guess these pipes in question are cast iron, which lend themselves to people getting this colour stained water. There's been numerous breaks, so it's the final upgrade in a serious of many. It was budgeted as a 1.2 million dollar project, and hopefully the tenders will come in much less than that. We expect to be complete in the summer of 2016."

Fossay says the rest of the village has been upgraded over past projects, and it's about 12 hundred metres of pipeline.
