August's drawing to a close, and so is the City of Portage's new pre-teen Sun Forever, Summer Weeks program at North Memorial School.

It's the first time it's been offered, and Youth Warehouse Director Courtney Freeborn is happy 178 kids were registered.

She hopes all of them, and their families, will be at a wrap-up event Saturday afternoon at North Memorial. It'll feature a junk jam by kids' entertainer Mr. Mark.
Freeborn expects all 240 spaces available will be filled next year, as parents realize it's a free program.

She also coordinates the Teen Warehouse, and notes there was similar interest in recreation activities there and in Sun Forever.
