Plans are in the works for a new hospital in Neepawa. The Assiniboine Regional Health Authority has submitted a proposal to Manitoba Health for a more modern facility.

Vice President of Support Services and Capital Planning Ted Bartlett says if the proposal is approved if the proposal is approved it will take about three years of planning, and expects construction to begin in 2010.

He adds the new facility will have less beds. Only about 50% of the current 38 beds are now in use.

The existing building has been renovated once and no longer meets standards.
