The new MLA for Midland is eager to get to work and is excited to advocate for a positive vision for the constituency.

Progressive Conservative, Lauren Stone, scored over half of the 9,001 votes cast in the constituency in Tuesday's election with 6,228 votes.

"I'm so excited and you know, just really incredibly honoured to the voters of Midland for placing their trust and their faith in me as their MLA," said Stone in a post-election interview.

"I want to be an open door. I want to talk to as many people I can and (am) happy to take your calls, happy to have conversations," she added. "I'm excited to represent the constituents and bring this fresh choice and fresh start for Midland to the legislature."

According to Stone, affordability is big concern for her constituents and, as a rookie MLA, says she will work hard to bring that concern forward in the legislature.

"I'm going to work tirelessly to ensure that my constituents' voices and concerns are heard at the legislature and be an open door for my constituents and have these conversations with them to ensure that their voices are listened to, heard."

While the province-wide result of the election wasn't what the Progressive Conservatives has been hoping for, Stone isn't letting it alter her focus.

"I congratulate everyone who put their names forward on the ballot and, as a new MLA, I'm going to work tirelessly to rebuild our party to reflect a new generation of Conservatives and Manitobans. I really look forward to the next four years for being a strong voice in the legislature and standing up for the issues that are important to the people of Midland, my constituency."
