After a 20 year break, MX dirt bike racing returned to the former Whispering Sands Golf Course, just west of Austin yesterday.

Justyn McCabe is one of the MX Legends and Golf organizers, and after all this time, describes it as a revival.

Justyn McCabe"A bunch of guys have come from across the country to race here," he says, "It's a revival alright, We're 20 years since guys raced here, and we raced here for 20 years, so it's kind of like a 40th anniversary."

McCabe says seeing the response is "pretty awesome".

"It's emotional for a lot of these guys," he says, "Tears at 50-60 years old rolling in here, and knowing that they did nationals back in '77 through to '97. And having all these kids, and vintage bikes, and old school two-stroke classes come up, it's pretty cool to them come from across the country, so this place is obviously very important to them."

He adds it's great to be back, but stresses nothing's been said about continuing.

"I don't want to put the cart before the horse," he says, "It's not my property, so we're fortunate to be here once. If it happens to be that the family wants to carry it on, we'll try and assemble a team that we we can see something happen in the future."
