Manitoba Public Insurance is making things easier, as well as safer, during the current pandemic.

Spokesperson Brian Smiley outlines how you can make transactions with MPI from home.

"In compliance to social distancing, Manitoba Public Insurance is now allowing customers to do transactions by phone with their Autopac agents or directly with MPI facilities," says Smiley. "Again, this is meant to give social distancing and hopefully reduce to COVID-19 curve that we're trying to reduce."

He notes it's for the following services:

  • New registration and policy application
  • Renewal of an expiring/expired driver’s licence
  • Reapplication of a lapsed driver's licence
  • Manual reassessment of an active or lapsed driver's licence
  • Driver's licence replacement
  • Basic ID card replacement (with no information changes)
  • Vehicle insurance coverage renewal, reassessment, reactivation, reapplication
  • Transfer of policy
  • Payment

Some of those functions certainly can be done on the phone with an Autopac agent or by calling MPI directly.

"This is an ever-moving line here," adds Smiley. "We're constantly evolving as the COVID-19 continues. Again, this is meant for the safety of both our staff and our customers."
